Dear INYS friends,
First of all I would like to wish you all a fruitful, productive and of course a happy 2016!
Now that the year has come to an end, I can definitely say 2015 has been a pleasant and constructive year. Even though we are still in a learning process we have managed to connect many young Dutch and Indonesians while informing organisations and the public about Indonesia and the Netherlands.
In 2015, the INYS was more than once invited to join or to help organize an event by other organizations. We are grateful to these organizations for their trust in the INYS and are looking forward to continue working together in Indonesia and the Netherlands in 2016. Our special thanks go to: Indonesia Nederland Society, Indonesia Diaspora Network, Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia, Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, PPI Belanda, Nuffic Neso Indonesia, Plan Nederland and the Frans Seda Foundation.
2015 was our first year in which we signed two corporate partnerships. We are very proud and grateful towards Garuda Indonesia and Royal HaskoningDHV for helping us in realizing our goals. Our “Meet a Leader of Today as a Leader of Tomorrow” event together with Garuda Indonesia earlier this month was again proof of how creative ideas can be generated by emerging leaders of today with leaders of tomorrow. After a meeting with Retno Marsudi in 2013, Frans Timmermans in 2014 and Dian Ediono in 2015, we are excited to organize the next meeting in 2016 with Berte Simons in Jakarta.
One of the highlights of 2015 was the official launch of INYS-Indonesia. The event that was hosted by the Erasmus Huis and was well attended by almost 300 people was a great success. The establishment of INYS in Indonesia is the first step to reach our goal to better connect young Dutch and Indonesians to each other and to Indonesia-Netherlands related opportunities in Indonesia. The support we have received for organizing this event was overwhelming and surpassed all our expectations. We thank all who contributed in making this an event to never forget.
In 2016 INYS-Nederland will be led by Andhika Rutten, an active and bright student from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Andhika is currently pursuing her Master in Culture, Organization and Management. In Jakarta, we are still looking for a new chairman of INYS-Indonesia to become the successor of Jaya Setiawan Gulo, who received a scholarship to study in Seattle. Both our teams in the Netherlands and Indonesia are excited to start working on creating new opportunities for young Dutch and Indonesians in 2016. I trust that they will act well and cooperative because they have shown great talent and enthusiasm for further developing the INYS.
For me personally it has again been a privilege to work with a team that consists of highly motivated and enthusiastic students and young professionals who all do this on a voluntary basis next to their college education or work. Therefore I would like to thank all Board Members, Trustees and Junior Advisors in both Indonesia and the Netherlands for their commitment and hard work for the INYS in 2015. Simultaneously I would like to welcome Andhika, Reza, Sarah-Ellen, Babette and Lavin to the INYS family. I am looking forward to work together in 2016 with all of you in order to continue our goal of creating a bright future for Indonesia and the Netherlands.
After this exciting year I am more than positive that 2016 will be a success as well! I am looking forward to seeing you all again in the future at our events in Indonesia and the Netherlands.
